Hour of Power!
I became certified by the Kentucky Environmental Education Council yesterday. As rigorous and arduous as this process has been, it was also totally awesome and most awesome of all were the people I met during this course.
I bring all this up because, well, okay, I'm proud of myself and proud of my fantastically amazing classmates. But I also have a point: It was during this environmental educator escapade that someone brought up Earth Hour. This totally intruiguing idea centers around each and every one of us turning off all of the electric detritus that runs our lives for one hour. On March 29, people all across the planet will be shutting off at 8:00 p.m. local time.
"You should be able to see from space when each part of the Earth turns off their lights," Sonya says. She shrugs and giggles and says, "You know, hopefully."
So here's to making progress and making friends: Whether your learning how to be a better environmental educator with fifteen strangers from across Kentucky or telling your neighbors about Earth Hour. Cheers!
*Special thanks to Teri for giving me information about Earth Hour!
